The Friends are ACTIVE!

The Friends of Celery Bog have again phoenixed from the ashes. Fed by the passion for a much beleaguered remnant of rare Sphagnum bog [1], we collectively know as the Celery Bog Nature Area (CBNA) [1]. This rare and important sanctuary, at the northwest edge of the West Lafayette, IN, is seriously squeezed by the increased encroachment of urban sprawl.![]()
The Celery Bog is rapidly becoming a poster child for an Urban Wetland in serious need of relief. Despite the islandization, CBNA serves the community with a variety of opportunities for reconnecting and learning from the natural world and its environs.
Friends of Celery Bog is the focal point of a concerned community voice. FoCB are those who enjoy, respect and desire to protect this area. FoCB acts as a preservation of our locally occurring natural world elements, for current and future generations alike.
Friends of Celery Bog have returned once again to speak on behalf of the Celery Bog Nature Area and to see to it that this special area is allowed to remain as untouched as possible and that any and all actions affecting it do not so at it’s stability, sustainability, integrity and value - both esthetically as well as educational and recreational.
Recent actions taken on the east side of the CBNA by the Purdue Golf management gives rise to fears of ill-planned and environmentally unsound practices - not in the best interest of the CBNA - are in the shadows.
Thus FoCB has been resurrected and formalized to speak and act on behalf of the community and the natural resource.
We are back. We are taking action. We are the voice of the Celery Bog Nature Area. We are the community.
